A barrel selection of the two best barrels from the cellar for the vintage, sourced entirely from Silvershot Vineyards, our home site in the Eola Hills. Planted on a south/southwest facing spine of uplifted ancient ocean floor, this water-starved and windswept hillside produces Pinot noir (and Pinot gris) of unique flavor concentration and deep pigmentation. These own-rooted vines break their way into sandstone studded with fossilized mollusks, from which we derive our own name. 100% destemmed, the wine ferments naturally for a few weeks before pressing, then rested for 16 months in neutral barrel.
