‘Sedimentary Feelings’ Silvershot Vineyards Pinot Noir

Silvershot Vineyards is our homesite. It is a small parcel located in the Eola-Amity Hills farmed by us in collaboration with Jim Fischer Sr. The name Fossil & Fawn is derived from the vineyard itself: it is planted on an uplift of the old ocean floor, which is replete with various aquatic fossils. Furthermore, the vineyard is surrounded by old-growth Oregon oak savannah, which is home to myriad animals, including baby deer (fawns).

The topsoil at the vineyard is incredibly shallow (about 12 inches in many spots), forcing the vines to penetrate the bedrock to seek water. This natural stress results in exceptionally low yields and highly concentrated colors and flavors in the fruit.
