FIREWATCH
MATTERI VINEYARD
WHITE WINE
Matteri Vineyard is home to our friend, Robert Matteri. His beautiful house there is nicknamed Firewatch due to its close resemblance to a Forest Service fire lookout.
The vineyard is located on the western edge of the Willamette Valley, planted in shallow, rocky Marine Sediment in the shadow of the Coast Range. Because of its proximity to the mountains, Matteri Vineyard receives less rain than sites further east.
The fruit for our Firewatch White Wine was picked on October 10th, 2024, after a long, moderate growing season. This slow maturation allowed for greater hangtime, developing flavor depth and complexity.
At the winery, the fruit was gently pressed, settled overnight, and then racked into a stainless steel tank where fermentation began spontaneously. Before the wine finished fermentation, it was transferred to neutral French oak barrels where it aged for nine months.
Tasting notes
Granny smith, spiced poached pear and honeysuckle with bristling acidity and balanced mouth-filling richness.
