Our Thoughts: This is our first stand-alone wine sourced entirely from Greg's Block at Silvershot Vineyards. Our friend Greg helped plant the vines in this block in 2003 before brain cancer took him a few years later. Greg had an incredible sense of humor and loved cats, so the label is an homage to him. The fruit was picked on a perfect autumn day -- cool and damp in the morning with sun slowly burning off the clouds. The berries were destemmed and left to soak for 24 hours on the skins before a gentle pressing. The juice was racked into older French oak barrels, and fermentation started with native yeast and no sulfur. We allowed the wine to complete malolactic fermentation in barrel, which means the texture is a bit more rich and mouth-filling, but with beautiful bright red fruit and snappy acidity.
